How Wind and Water Can Change The Shape Of The Land

Last week, we began discussing what erosion means. The students started with an experiment that demonstrated how wind can change the shape of the land by blowing onto a sand hill.

Today, the students did an experiment that demonstrated how water can change the shape of the land. The students used a dropper and sprinkled water droplets over their sand mountain. Then they quickly squeezed out water from their dropper onto their mountain. The results were very different. Ask your child about what happened and ask them which trial was supposed to act like rain sprinkles and which trial was supposed to be like a rainstorm.
