We will be doing a very special activity with our reading buddies on the morning of Wednesday, March 13th. Mrs. Hamilton's class and Mrs. Fyrberg’s class will be walking together to the Food Shelf at the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction. We are suggesting that each student bring in one non-perishable food item by Monday, March 11th. Items your child might want to bring in may include cereal, boxed macaroni and cheese, soup, rice, pasta, tomato sauce (no glass), and canned vegetables. We will walk these items over to the food shelf and have a tour of the facility. Ginny Coe, who volunteers there and at Summit Street School will meet us to explain to the children how a food shelf functions and why it is so important. You do not need to sign a permission slip as this is a community walking field trip, but we wanted to make you aware of our plans. We will leave school at 8:45 and return by 9:45.
